Job Description

Our client produce an award winning marketing/ data software, which is quickly becoming industry standard in their sector. They also provide websites/web registration services for clients. They supply other direct marketing services; telemarketing, research, education data and SOP from their dedicated Customer Service Centre. Their mailing centre provides direct mail facilities and they sell mailing/contact lists for customers from a central database.
The Role Reports to the Support Manager. Responsible for assessing and resolving day to day technical issues: investigating our bespoke software to work out if issues are caused by the application or the data; writing SQL query based reports in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio; analysing database/server issues; contributing to software and data projects, etc.

The role's focus is for a timely and efficient resolution of customer issues, ensuring total customer satisfaction while always adhering to Dept Standards & Procedures.

Job Description
* 2nd Line Support for internal/external customers via telephone/email
* Deal with/resolve 2nd line support (identifying bugs in software, writing SQL statements using MSSMS to return specific datasets, importing/profiling data, querying SQL databases, etc.)
* Identify potential technical problems that may extend beyond scope of initial problem definition
Essential Skills
* Excellent problem solving/analysis skills
* Able to quickly understand/define/resolve user issues
* Proven customer facing service skills
* Able to quickly understand complex procedures and work flows within IT infrastructure, including bespoke software
* Hands-on experience of MS products in production environments, including:-
o SQL 2000/2005/2008 to intermediate level including stored procedures, functions and loops
o MS Access
* Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail
* Able to quickly and correctly prioritise tasks
* Excellent written skills, thoroughness/precision in documentation
* Team player

Desirable Skills
* Able to debug VB6/VBA code
* SSIS
* Windows Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services
* Strength of character to effectively manage varying expectations from internal/external customers
* SSRS

Driving license & own transport preferred.
37.5 hour week, between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
20 days holiday in the 1st year rising to 25 in subsequent years. Contributory pension scheme and membership of company healthcare scheme.
