Job Description

Software Developers who are looking to work in a fun and dynamic environment in Cheltenam where they are encouraged to come up with ideas and concepts to help solve difficult problems. The work is varied, sometimes working in a team on a larger development and sometimes working as a solo developer.

Based in Cheltenham the Software Developer will be using the latest and most advanced technologies to achieve their goals and encourage diversity of thinking and innovation. Junior Software Developers are supported with a combination of formal and mentored development and training, whilst more experienced developers lead development activities, help nurture less experienced talent and can get involved in technical strategy and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain a suite of in-house software applications, agents and scripts.
  • Work on development activities to support the field of cyber defence and response within a team of specialist cyber incident responders and technical security experts.
  • Be involved in all stages of the development life cycle, from initial concepts and vision, prototyping, production, testing, all the way to de-commissioning.

Background and Understanding

  • Between one and five years relevant software development experience
  • Strong coding abilities - proficient in a high level language, ideally Java, C++ or C#
  • Experience with database technologies
  • An understanding of source control, bug-tracking and the software development life cycle
  • Experience in Front End development - HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery
  • A keen interest in emerging technologies
  • A positive attitude and the desire to add value
  • Able to follow a fast, iterative agile development approach

Advantageous Skills

  • Python, REST, MVC, Entity Framework, C, TCP/IP
