## About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Engineer to support the design, development, commissioning and technical delivery of utility-scale battery energy storage projects across the United Kingdom.
This demonstration vacancy represents a typical senior engineering position within the rapidly growing energy storage sector.
## Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support throughout the BESS project lifecycle.
- Review battery system designs, technical specifications and equipment selections.
- Support the integration of battery systems, power conversion systems (PCS), energy management systems (EMS) and SCADA platforms.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants and grid connection specialists.
- Support commissioning, testing and performance verification.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK electrical engineering, health and safety and grid connection requirements.
- Identify technical risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support project documentation, reporting and technical handover.
## Skills and Experience
**Essential:**
- Experience in battery energy storage, power systems or utility-scale renewable energy engineering.
- Understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies and BESS system architecture.
- Knowledge of PCS, EMS, SCADA and electrical balance-of-plant systems.
- Experience working with engineering contractors, technology suppliers or project developers.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
**Desirable:**
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with UK grid connection requirements.
- Knowledge of BESS commissioning and performance testing.
- Familiarity with National Grid NESO requirements and relevant G99 connection standards.
- Experience supporting projects from design through commercial operation.
